Heeley and District Allotment Protection Society was established around 1911 and since then has been active in providing services to the growing community in the local area.

We welcome you to our site, both physically & via the web!

We are a leisure society & do not pretend to be experts but hold years of success and failures growing vegetables in Meersbrook. Please visit us at our allotment shop (membership required for legal reasons) for growing needs or a chat with a cuppa.

Since 2020 we have been hosting growing workshops to help members with daily plot demands. These have included a ZOOM workshop with Charles Dowding informing everyone about the benefits of No Dig to plants and backs!  The workshops will grow with the society and demand over the coming years.

Please Note:

We also ran two separate workshops to hopefully improve wildlife on site. These were with Fran Halsall building and filling a wildlife pond & also promoted Froglife who ran a series of ZOOM workshops nationally for all to learn how to attract wildlife to their plots.

In 2021 we gained a new plot to be used as a community plot. In the future we hope to invite general public to learn about growing & enjoy the outside space. Our hope is that food produced will be donated locally to benefit wider community. We look forward to developing this plot with a variety of growing techniques and methods with an abundance of produce.

For up to date information members can sign up at the shop and join the Facebook group
